QUESTIONS ABOUT ACCOUNT SIGN-UP & SETTINGS

Q: What kind of password should I choose?

A: When you choose a password, don't go for something really obvious. Some examples of bad passwords are:

password
12345
letmein
Millsberry
or any famous fictional character

Use a combination of letters and numbers. That makes it a lot harder for people to guess.

return to top

Q: How do I keep my password a secret?

A: By not telling it to ANYBODY! Never tell anybody your password, no matter who they say they are. No staff member will ever need to ask for your password. There are many people out there who would love to get their hands on your hard earned Millsbucks and they will pretend to be staff, have a secret code, anything to try getting you to tell them. Again, no Millsberry staff member will ever contact you via hotmail, AIM, MSN Messenger.

Also, if you visit Millsberry in a public place such as a school or library, be sure to log out when you are done. To log out, simply click on 'Log Out' at the top of the screen.

Finally, if something looks too good to be true, chances are it is. There are no secret codes to become rich overnight, there is no magic web page that gives you one million Millsbucks.

QUESTIONS ABOUT GAMES & ACTIVITIES

Q: The game I'm playing is really slow!

A: You can adjust the quality of your game when you first click on it. High Quality (the default) makes your game look better, but move much slower. If you want your game to work and load faster, select Low Quality. Also, you might want to adjust the size of the game to make it load faster as well.

Q: How do I get trophies for games?

A: Earn a high enough score. Keep in mind that some games don't award trophies. They may award special items, or nothing at all. If there is no trophy for a game, you will receive a message when you submit your score.

QUESTIONS ABOUT MY CHARACTER/BUDDY

Q: My character is hungry. What do I do?

A: Click on the Downtown button at the left of the screen and click on the Grocery Store. There, you'll find all kinds of foods for your character. Just remember it's important to fill your stomach but it's also important to make healthy choices. Make sure to choose a variety of foods to help keep your character healthy.

Q: How do I become Citizen of the Week?

A: Citizen of the Week is chosen by the Millsberry City Council. Each week, they look through the city records and choose a Citizen. If you'd like your Citizen to be considered for this prestigious award, just be the best example you can be!

Q: Can I rename my character?

A: Once you've named your character, you can't change his or her name. After all, would you want someone changing your name?

return to top

Q: What do the four symbols under my character mean?

A: They are your character's statistics, which play an important role in helping your character succeed. If your character remains inactive, statistics will decrease over time. If you point your mouse cursor over each bar, you'll see the name and quantity of each statistic. Keeping your stats high will help you succeed in events and games.

Blue is Fitness, measuring your character's general physical abilities. Fitness can be improved by playing athletic games. A high level of fitness will help you excel in various physical activities.

Green is Civics, measuring how much your character contributes to the community. Civics can be improved by contributions to the community center, and participating in activities that help the city stay clean and safe.

Red is Health, which measures how physically well your character is. Health can be improved by eating a well-balanced breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day. Overall good health will give you more energy for going on adventures.

Yellow is Intelligence, representing your character's ability to think, and solve problems. Intelligence can be improved by reading, and playing puzzle games. A high level of Intelligence will help your character find secrets and bargains.

Orange is Hunger, measuring how hungry your character is. Unlike the other stats, the object is not simply to keep your meter full at all times. You can fill your hunger meter by eating any type of food, but this will not help your buddy stay healthy if the foods are not properly balanced. Your character will not eat when the Hunger meter is full. For best results, each meal should be balanced among the five food groups.

Q: When I created my character, he only had 10 different shirts! What's up with that?

A: If you want your character to be snazzy and stylish, you'll have to play games and earn some Millsbucks so that you can buy new clothes for him or her at the Clothes Shop.

return to top

Q: When I read a book, my intelligence stat doesn't increase. Why?

A: The first time you read a book, your Intelligence goes up. Re-reading the same book over and over again won't make you any smarter; you'll have to go out and get new books.

Q: How do I get chosen to be the Featured Home?

A: By keeping your house clean, arranging the furniture in keen ways, and keeping the door open to visitors!

QUESTIONS ABOUT MY STUFF

Q: How do I get more Millsbucks?

A: By playing games! Playing a game doesn't cost you anything - it's always free. And, when you send in a score, you get points. You can use your points to buy food, clothes, furniture, or any number of other things in Millsberry.

return to top

Q: How do bank accounts work?

A: You deposit money in the bank and they pay you interest based on how much money you have in your account. The more money you have invested in the bank, the larger the interest becomes. In a way, the bank pays you money to keep money there. But you don't get your interest payments automatically -- you have to stop by the bank every day to pick up your interest. If you skip a day, you don't get your interest bonus.

The larger your account is, the more interest you collect, so be sure to keep as much money as possible in the bank, keeping the rest as spending money as you go around town. Never withdraw more money than you need -- the more money you have in the bank, the more interest you earn!

return to top

Q: Why does my food go bad?

A: Because that's what happens to food! Nothing lasts forever, even if you keep it in the freezer. Eventually, all food loses its freshness and you need to go out and buy new groceries.

QUESTIONS ABOUT SHOPPING

Q: Where is the ______ Shop?

A: All shops are located in Downtown Millsberry. To get there, all you have to do is clickhere.

Q: When I was in the Clothes Shop, I saw this cool shirt that I wanted, but I didn't have enough Millsbucks at the time. Once I'd saved up enough to buy it, I went back, but it was gone! What happened?

A: There are a couple of reasons why you won't find everything all of the time. First, every ten minutes or so, the shopkeepers in Downtown Millsberry re-stock their shelves with more books, clothes, toys, food, etc. If something sells out between those re-stocks, you may not find it on the shelves until later. For example, if Loretta Rivers puts six pairs of brown pants out for sale in the Clothing Store and they sell out in two minutes, then you won't find any brown pants for sale for the next eight minutes.

Second, you may not be able to find something in the Clothing Store because it's out of season. After all, it wouldn't make much sense for the Clothing Store to fill their racks with Halloween costumes and ski jackets in the middle of summer, right?

Keep in mind, if you're unable to track down what you're looking for in the shops of Downtown Millsberry, it's a good idea to check out the numerous Yard Sales throughout Millsberry. Yard Sales often offer bargain prices on things that are either out of season or no longer available.
